Client Profile
A Luxury US eCommerce Store for Lighting and Home Decor
Established in 2004 and headquartered in the United States, our client operates a large-scale store offering a premium selection of lighting, furniture, and decor from top-tier brands. Their catalog serves both individual consumers and B2B distributors, featuring exclusive contemporary designs that set them apart in a competitive home furnishings market.
Project Scope
From Photo Editing to End-to-End Product Catalog Management
The client initially engaged Team4eCom to handle eCommerce image editing — background removal, resizing, color correction, and cropping for product photos. As the quality and consistency of our work became evident, they broadened the scope considerably.
Team4eCom was assigned responsibility for product catalog management, attribute-level data entry, product listing creation (including open-box items), and the production of ‘scale images’ that accurately depicted product dimensions and context.
Project Challenges
Handling Catalog Accuracy, Image Precision, and Multi-Brand Complexity
As the client managed a large and highly varied product catalog, the engagement required a structured approach, continuous quality review, and subject-level expertise. Key challenges included the following:
- Populating 80+ Attribute Fields With Zero Margin for Error: Each product record required populating more than 80 data fields, including dimensions, materials, manufacturer identifiers, and feature descriptions. A single error in any attribute could affect listing accuracy and the buyer's experience, making precision at every step non-negotiable.
- Cross-Referencing Manufacturer Data: The client's catalog contained thousands of product variants, and data inconsistencies were common in brand-supplied feeds. Before any record was entered into the portal, the team had to manually trace specifications from the manufacturer's website to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Product Image Scaling With High Precision: Many products were only available as side-angle photographs, yet accurate-scale images were required for all listings. Producing these within defined timelines demanded visual judgment, product familiarity, and meticulous attention to dimensional accuracy.
- Handling Portal Glitches and Connection Interruptions: All portal access was routed through the client's secure VPN to protect data confidentiality. Connection drops, slow portal response times, and software interruptions had to be addressed immediately without delaying scheduled deliverables.
- Learning the Client’s Proprietary Product Portal: The client's product data workflows were built around NetSuite, a platform with extensive functionality spanning catalog enrichment, digital asset management, and syndication. The team required fast familiarization to operate efficiently from the start of the engagement.
- Building Category Expertise Across the Client’s Product Range: With more than 100 brands and thousands of SKUs across lighting, furniture, and decor, the project required team members with in-depth product understanding—the ability to distinguish between attributes, recognize nuances across categories, and maintain quality standards independently.
Our Approach
Managing Product Data, Image Editing, and Open-Box Listings at Scale
Team4eCom assembled a dedicated team of 20 subject-matter experts, each trained on the client's product categories and the NetSuite portal environment. After structured onboarding to the client's catalog taxonomy and workflow requirements, the team operated across three distinct workstreams:
- 01
Product Photo Editing and Scale Image Production
A team of six photo editing specialists managed all visual asset production tasks:
- Removed and replaced image backgrounds with clean white backgrounds across all product SKUs.
- Recolored product images to support variation listings for different finishes.
- Produced scale images placing products in accurate dimensional contexts to illustrate size, proportion, and utility.
- Converted available side-angle product photos into front-angle scale images using reference data.
- 02
Product Data Entry and Catalog Listing
The catalog management team built and maintained product listings across the client's portal:
- Extracted and structured product details from Excel files, capturing parent and variant-level attributes.
- Mapped product data against 80+ required fields in the portal to create fully populated, comprehensive, and accurate listings.
- Manually entered data for more than 50 products daily to sustain catalog growth at the client's expansion targets.
- Validated dimensions, specifications, and model details against manufacturer websites to rectify any discrepancy before submission.
- 03
Open-Box Listing Management
Returned items (open-box products) were resold by the retailer at discounted prices. For these listings, our team:
- Updated product records on the client’s portal to reflect revised conditions or modified package contents.
- Applied open-box status tag and adjusted pricing on a per-product, case-by-case basis.
- Created separate listings for eligible open-box variants and linked them to the corresponding original products.
