Client Success Story
Client Overview
The client is a U.S.-based online retailer selling home improvement products across categories such as bath fixtures, tiles, and sanitary ware. Their Shopify store has a catalog of 100,000+ SKUs from 70+ brands and supports product sales across multiple online sales channels.
Project Scope
The client required comprehensive Shopify management services for streamlining their inventory and optimizing their store’s product listings. The engagement included five primary operational areas:
Key Challenges
The scale of the catalog and the number of connected sales channels created several operational gaps that had to be addressed before the store could function efficiently:
Shopify restricts each product to 100 variants and 3 option types. For a retailer offering home improvement products in multiple attribute combinations — including finish, size, and material — this cap prevented complete product representation and required a solution to maintain full catalog coverage.
Existing category assignments and product tags were mapped incorrectly across the catalog. This disrupted site navigation, reduced search results accuracy, and made it difficult for the targeted audience to quickly find your products.
Updating custom product fields at scale was difficult within Shopify’s native setup. Large volumes of detailed specifications, including structured product attributes and HTML-formatted information, required a more controlled update process.
Stock data came from 70+ vendors, each using different SKU formats. This made it difficult to match and sync accurate stock levels, resulting in mismatches between Shopify SKUs and vendor SKUs.
The catalog required daily inventory updates across 100,000+ SKUs and 70+ brands. Handling such high volumes of data with time sensitivity created a high-risk update cycle where even small mapping or sync errors could affect stock accuracy.
The client needed to sell selected products as bundles, requiring Shopify app integrations and configurations for bundle pricing, product relationships, and inventory tracking for these bundled products.
Inventory data had to stay aligned across Shopify, Amazon, eBay, and Facebook Shop. As they could not ensure real-time sync of stock consistently between channels, the client faced overselling risks, inaccurate availability, and avoidable operational delays.
Solution Delivered
With over 100,000 SKUs requiring consistent attribute alignment, a scalable upload framework was developed using standardized product templates. As a part of our Shopify listing services, each template was tailored to its brand and category combination, enabling repeatable bulk imports while ensuring accurate product attributes and taxonomy.
Product categories and tags were not aligned correctly, which affected product visibility and made site navigation less effective. Team4eCom corrected the category structure and added custom rule-based tagging & smarter categorization to make product discovery easier for shoppers.
A content strategy was applied across all active product detail pages to improve search engine visibility and reduce friction in the purchase journey. Titles, descriptions, and metadata were rewritten with alignment to targeted keywords
Stock inputs from 70+ vendors arrived in different formats, making inventory updates difficult to manage consistently. Team4eCom standardized the incoming files, mapped vendor SKUs to the correct Shopify records, and automated stock syncs to keep inventory data accurate and updated across all connected sales channels.
The Shopify store was integrated with Amazon, eBay, and Facebook using third-party channel management tools. Real-time inventory sync was established across all platforms, and centralized reporting was established to monitor performance and resolve discrepancies proactively.
The client needed bundle-selling functionality for selected product combinations. Team4eCom established bundling rules that supported grouped product offers, simplified product selection, and contributed to a higher average order value.
